Can Nero burn ISO images?
Yes, e.g. the redhat 6.1 ISO image
Proceed as follows:
1. Start Nero
2. Choose the menu command "File"->"Burn CD image"
3. Choose as file type: all files (*.*)
4. Select the ISO image file
5. Now you will see a dialog, asking you, if you want to supply detailled image parameters. This is necessary, since Nero needs to know exactly, what format the image file has to be able to burn it correctly.
6. Enter the following parameters:
- Mode 1 (assuming, that you created a mode 1 image)
- 2048 bytes per sector (corresponds to a mode 1 sector)
- 0 bytes header and trailer (assuming, the image contains only "pure" ISO data and no other special header or trailer)
- no swapping or scrambling (assuming, that the file contains bytes in the correct order to be written without word swapping)
7. Click on "burn" and (for safety considerations) use an empty cdr.
This procedures relies upon the assumption, that you have "normal" ISO mode 1 image file. You can check this, by opening the image with a hex editor (maybe UltraEdit, because this prog doesn't try to read the entire image into memory (after setting the read-only flag) and look at offset 8000 hex (this corresponds to sector 16, where the ISO [p]rimary [v]olume [d]descriptor is stored on cd). If you see some text like "CD001" (the PVD magic), then burning with the above procedure should work fine.

Nero plays the wrong sound after the successfully burning of a CD. Why?
We know that Nero plays the sound for an unsuccessfully burnprocess at some systems. Please ignore this misleading behaviour of Nero. The developers will resolve the problem as soon as possible.

How can I resolve installation and uninstallation problems?
If you get the following error as soon as you try to install Nero:
The path '1' cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try to find the installation package 'Nero - Burning Rom.msi' in a folder from which you can install the product Nero - Burning Rom.
Or you get the following error as soon as you try to uninstall Nero:
Error 1904: C:\WINNT\System32\drivers\ImagXpr5.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147024770. Contact your support personnel.
Please download and execute the following tool: RestoreReg.exe
After that the installation / uninstallation of Nero will work.

Does Nero burn on-the-fly?
Yes, Nero automatically uses on-the-fly burning.

How can I create a CD-Image?
To create a CD-image we use the so-called 'image-recorder'. You select this recorder in the menu CD-Recorder\Recorder selection. As a result, your files will be written into an image file and not directly to the recorder. To burn this image go to the menu File\Burn image. Remember that you need enough free space on the chosen volume to save the full image.

Although I created a multi-session-disk I can only see the last session. Why?
If your CD-recorder supports multi-session, you can only read the last session of your CD on Windows 95 and NT 4.0, and the first session on Windows 3.1x.
Nero gives you another solution: in Windows 95 and NT 4.0 you can use the Nero MultiMounter to switch to any other session of your multi-session-CD.

How can I use the Nero MultiMounter?
This tool is available for Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0 and allows to switch between the different tracks of a multi-session-CD. It is installed with the installation of Nero.
Insert the CD into the CD-ROM-drive or recorder, go to the Explorer, select the drive in which you put the CD, select properties either through the menu File/properties or by using the right mouse button. Then you see two or more property sheets one of which is the volumes sheet. Here you find the tracks listed that have been burned onto the CD. Click on the track you want to work with, then return to the Explorer.

After installing the serial number again I cannot get past this screen.
What is happening?
You most likely have a demo version of Nero installed,of which the time has expired. Please contact the sales department for a brandnew demo.

Can I use my CD-ROM drive to make a direct copy to my CD-Recorder?
You can't make a bit-per-bit copy of a CD with Nero, if your source drive is a CD-ROM drive. The source drive has to be your CD-Recorder. Nero will read the original CD from the recorder and will then create and save an image file with the contents of your CD. In a third step, Nero will write the image file onto a blank CD. This gives you a very high reliability for copies and offers you the possibility to copy also Mixed-Mode-CDs, etc. and has functionalities like jitter-correction, which could not be done on-the-fly from a CD-ROM drive. We chose this method, because it has shown the highest reliability of all different copy-methods.

The "CD-Copy" icon does not appear in the window "new compilation"
If you are missing the "CD-Copy" icon, please make sure that you have not chosen the image recorder.
Other possiblility: you may have booted your system without putting your recorder to power-on. Please, always power-on your recorder before booting your operating system.

I can't select another language other than English
Nero v1.0.3 supports English and German
Nero v1.1 supports English, French and German
If you could select only one of these languages in the "Language" property sheet, please reinstall Nero and follow carefully the instructions as they appear. You will then have the option to select all languages supported by Nero. By default Nero installs the language of your operating system only.

How can I prevent buffer underruns?
defragment your hard disk from time to time
during burning no other tasks should be performed by the computer
change the BIOS settings of your Host Adapter
before burning, you should always run the speed test and the simulation in order to get the optimal speed. If you don't do that, the maximum possible write speed of the recorder is kept as default.
